Worth knowing
Hudek; cover, cost and conditions
Hudek appears in our records with 17 boats built between 1983 and 1999, a mix of sailing catamarans such as Ducat, Becat and Seecat, dinghies like Kobold and Mephisto, and individual motorboats and yachts such as the Excellenza. Lengths range from 3.1 to 9.6 metres.
Most Hudek boats are small and trailerable, so liability forms the base and transport should be part of the cover. For the build years from the eighties and nineties, hull cover with an agreed fixed value secures the value more reliably than pure current value, with the boat type simply stated when taking out cover.
NAMMERT insures Hudek boats regardless of build year and place of purchase. You can calculate the premium in the online calculator in about 5 minutes.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
Open catamarans are beached and trailed, so most damage happens ashore and in transit, not on the water.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
