Worth knowing
Älvdalsplast; cover, cost and conditions
Four sailing yacht ranges are recorded for Älvdalsplast: Norlin 30, Norlin 34, Norlin 37 and Norlin 41. The construction periods lie between 1968 and 1987, so production is completed. Anyone taking over such a yacht today buys second-hand. In the full hull cover from NAMMERT an agreed value is agreed for this, which applies in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
The replacement value of a boat from that period follows from condition, equipment and care, not from the brand name. At NAMMERT the premium is based on the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range. In the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit, so that even a Norlin 41 can be held with an agreed value.
The basis of every contract remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, graduated across the tariff levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Cover does not end at the jetty, because it also applies in winter storage, during craning, launching and on the transport route. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is a Norlin from the nineteen-seventies valued?
Decisive are the condition and the equipment, not the year of construction alone. The agreed value is firmly agreed when the policy is taken out and is paid out in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"). In the Premium tariff no age limit applies to this.
Does cover also apply outside the season?
Yes. The hull cover continues in winter storage and covers damage there too. Craning, launching and the transport route are included, and there is no time window and no night clause.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
