Worth knowing
Appleyard; cover, cost and conditions
Two ranges are recorded under the name Appleyard: the Seadog sailing yacht from the years 1965 to 1986 and the Elysian 27 motor yacht, built from 1962 to 1984. Sail and power thus stand side by side. Both build periods lie in the past, which makes no difference to inclusion in a contract.
Between seasons such boats move between water and land. Craning and launching are included in the cover, as are transit and the time in winter storage. The boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium and needs no contract of its own, not even for the journey to the slipway.
Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis, optionally as Basis, Basis-Plus or Premium. Full hull cover adds collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard, in the Premium tariff with no age limit for the agreed value.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does cover continue during craning and launching?
Yes. Craning, launching, transit and winter storage are included. The boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium and needs no contract of its own.
Is the Seadog treated differently from the Elysian 27?
The procedure is the same. For sailing boats the sail area enters into the premium, for motor boats the engine power, together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range in each case.

Series by Appleyard, build years and cover
Seadog is a sailing yacht from Appleyard, built from 1965 to 1986.
Elysian 27 is a motor yacht from Appleyard, built from 1962 to 1984.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
