What is a Spiegelkotter?
A Dutch steel motor yacht with a flat transom, modelled on the shape of fishing cutters. For insurance it is not the hull form that counts but length, value, engine power and cruising area.
Do I need a survey for a steel yacht?
On older ships we recommend it. It records the state of hull, anodes and coating, and an agreed fixed value can be based on it that is not questioned after a loss.
