Worth knowing
Cal Boats; cover, cost and conditions
The Cal 29 was built from 1971 to 1979 and is the only range available to us for this brand. Anyone buying such a yacht today buys it used and mostly privately. We offer legal expenses cover for water sports alongside; it applies to disputes after the purchase of a used boat as well as to disputes with a yard.
After the purchase the question of the value arises. We agree an agreed value and settle with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. In this way the settlement does not depend on the age of the yacht but on what you have recorded with us.
We have no further details about the yard; for the acceptance that is irrelevant. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. For a sailing yacht the premium is based on the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the insurance help in a dispute after a boat purchase?
Legal expenses cover for water sports can be co-insured. It is tailored to disputes after the purchase of a used boat and to disputes with a yard.
Does the previous policy have to be cancelled by the owner?
No. Our switching service takes care of that: NAMMERT cancels the previous policy free of charge, and you do not have to worry about deadlines and letters.

Series by Cal Boats, build years and cover
Cal 29 is a sailing yacht from Cal Boats, built from 1971 to 1979.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
