Cheoy Lee Shipyards is listed with 97 models: 65 motor yachts, 27 sailing yachts and a handful of motorsailers. Build years run since 1967 and lengths from 8.5 to 46.1 m. Today the Explorer, Bravo, Alpha and CLX lines dominate, together with the Harbour Craft in 14, 16 and 21 m. The early decades produced the well known long keel yachts and motorsailers.
That span means two very different insurance cases. A sailing yacht from 1975 is a classic whose value does not come from a depreciation table but from condition, refit and equipment. Hull cover with an agreed fixed value backed by a survey is the right route. An Explorer of more than 30 m, by contrast, covers long distances, carries crew and tenders and needs a broadly defined cruising area and a sufficiently high liability limit.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
