Ege Yat covers a very broad range of 40 models between 2.3 and 25.7 m. Seventeen are sailing yachts and fourteen are motorboats, joined by three sailing boats, three motor yachts and three sailing catamarans. On the power side stand the 6.80 series as Center Console, Cuddy, Fisher and Pilothouse plus the 7.90, 8.50 and 9.50 Fisher; on the sailing side the Ege 19, 23, 26 and 26 T. Production has run since 2000 and continues today.

A span from 2.3 to 25.7 m takes in very different boats, so length, value and cruising area decide the rating. For the small units third party liability is the base and trailer transport the most important add-on. For the large yachts berth, winter storage and a complete agreed value belong in the application, especially where the boat stays permanently in the eastern Mediterranean.

What this means for the cover

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.

On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.

On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.

On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.

On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.

On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
