Worth knowing
Harle Yachtbau GmbH; cover, cost and conditions
Older sailing boats are readily valued down in the event of a claim. The agreed value under full hull cover works precisely against that: the value is stated in the contract and the indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). Three model ranges are recorded for Harle Yachtbau: Bumerang, Bumerang 860 and Duk, with build years from 1968 to 1985.
Production therefore lies entirely in the past, yet the boats can be insured. We insure irrespective of build year, place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit. Small series and self-built boats are also included.
For sailing boats the sail area determines the premium instead of an engine output, along with the type of boat, the value, the build year and the cruising range. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in three tariff levels.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can a boat from 1970 still get full hull cover?
Yes. In the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit, and we insure irrespective of build year, place of purchase and previous owners. The basis is the agreed value arranged in the contract.
What has to be observed in winter storage?
The cover applies there without any additional arrangement, as it does during craning, launching and on the transport route. Limited hull cover additionally bears fire, storm, lightning strike and theft of the entire boat.

Series by Harle Yachtbau GmbH, build years and cover
Bumerang is a sailing yacht from Harle Yachtbau GmbH, built from 1972 to 1985.
Duk is a sailing boat from Harle Yachtbau GmbH, built from 1968 to 1980.
Bumerang 860 is a sailing yacht from Harle Yachtbau GmbH, built from 1971 to 1979.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
