Worth knowing
Nelson Marine; cover, cost and conditions
For Nelson Marine the Nelson 37 is recorded as a sailing yacht with years of construction from 1969 to 1979, and nothing more. Anyone buying a yacht from this period negotiates with a previous owner. If a dispute arises afterwards, the legal expenses cover for water sports that we also offer applies.
It comprises disputes after the purchase of a used boat as well as a dispute with a shipyard. The actual boat cover, alongside this, begins with third-party liability, selectable with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels.
For the hull insurance we arrange an agreed value; compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff without an age limit. We provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, which counts with a yacht from the seventies.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the legal expenses cover include a dispute with a shipyard?
The legal expenses cover for water sports is offered in addition and applies in the event of a dispute after the purchase of a used boat or with a shipyard. It supplements third-party liability, limited hull cover and full hull cover.

Series by Nelson Marine, build years and cover
Nelson 37 is a sailing yacht from Nelson Marine, built from 1969 to 1979.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
