Worth knowing
Nielsen, A.; cover, cost and conditions
Lady and Lady II are the two recorded sailing yacht ranges, built between 1972 and 1981. No further models are on record. Production thus lies more than four decades back, yet the yachts remain insurable, regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.
A yacht from that period has passed through many hands. If concealed defects come to light after the purchase, a dispute quickly arises. We also offer legal expenses cover for water sports; it applies in disputes following the purchase of a used boat or with a yard.
For the boat itself full hull cover with an agreed value applies, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff without any age limit. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the legal expenses cover also apply to a dispute with a yard?
Yes. The legal expenses cover for water sports applies in disputes with a yard just as it does after the purchase of a used boat. It is offered in addition to the boat insurance.
Is there an age limit for full hull cover?
In the Premium tariff full hull cover applies without any age limit. The agreed value is arranged when cover is taken out and is paid in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).

Series by Nielsen, A., build years and cover
Lady is a sailing yacht from Nielsen, A., built from 1972 to 1981.
Lady II is a sailing yacht from Nielsen, A., built from 1974 to 1981.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
