Worth knowing
Purbrook; cover, cost and conditions
One sailing yacht range is recorded, the Pintail with years of construction from 1967 to 1977. For boats from that time the agreed value is the core of the policy: the value is agreed in advance and, in the event of a claim, paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
On a sailing yacht we calculate with the sail area instead of the engine output; added to this are the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand does not affect the premium. The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
Production ended in 1977, so all yachts are second hand. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and hull cover knows no time window and no night clause. The legal expenses cover for water sports additionally covers a dispute after the purchase of a used boat or with a yard.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is the value of a yacht from the nineteen seventies determined?
Through the agreed value, which is agreed before the policy begins. In the event of a claim, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old); in the Premium tariff the agreed value applies with no age limit.
Does the sail area count for the Pintail?
Yes, on sailing boats the sail area takes the place of the engine output. Together with the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range, the premium results from this.

Series by Purbrook, build years and cover
Pintail is a sailing yacht from Purbrook, built from 1967 to 1977.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
