Worth knowing
Sunbeam Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Sunbeam builds sailing yachts between 7 and 14 metres in Austria at Schöchl on the Mattsee, yachts with a high standard of fit out for the Alpine lakes, the Adriatic and the Baltic. The yard is one of the few Austrian sailing boat builders and builds in small series with a high degree of individualisation.
For Austrian owners we underwrite through our office in Salzburg, premium in euros, insurance tax at the Austrian rate, service in German. On the Alpine lakes regional law applies: registration and registration numbers through the provincial authority, on Lake Constance the Lake Constance Shipping Regulations, with its own ordinances on propulsion and power for each lake. The cruising range in the policy should match what you actually sail, the Attersee and the Adriatic are two different levels.

Certificate of insurance for foreign harbours; check that racing is covered.

Series by Sunbeam, with value and cover
Sunbeam 22 / 24 (classic) is a sailing boat from Sunbeam (Austria), built from 1974 to 1995, and today changes hands at between €7,000 and €25,000.
Sunbeam 22 is a sailing boat from Sunbeam (Austria), built since 1990, and today changes hands at between €20,000 and €95,000.
Sunbeam 32 / 36 is a sailing yacht from Sunbeam (Austria), built since 1995, and today changes hands at between €70,000 and €320,000.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
