Worth knowing
Tankoa; cover, cost and conditions
With lengths of 45 to 72 metres, the limit of 2.5 million euros sum insured is as a rule exceeded. Instead of the online conclusion, the case-by-case examination then applies. The aluminium and steel yachts from Genoa are built in small numbers with hybrid drives.
Two ranges are documented: the S501 and S533 since 2015 as well as the T450 Hybrid since 2020, both to the present day. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis here too, selectable in the tariff levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium.
The agreed value holds the value agreed, settlement is made with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) and, in the Premium tariff, with no age limit. We issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages, and cover also applies during craning and in winter storage.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
From what sum do you examine on a case-by-case basis?
Above 2.5 million euros sum insured. Up to that amount the policy can be taken out online. For yachts of 45 to 72 metres in length, the case-by-case examination is the usual route.
Are yachts with a hybrid drive insurable?
Yes. The type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range determine the premium. Small series are insurable, as are boats regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.

Series by Tankoa, with value and cover
Tankoa S501 / S533 is a motor yacht from Tankoa (Italy), built since 2015, and today changes hands at between €14,000,000 and €32,000,000.
Tankoa T450 Hybrid is a motor yacht from Tankoa (Italy), built since 2020, and today changes hands at between €9,500,000 and €18,000,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
