Worth knowing
Westsail; cover, cost and conditions
Two ranges come from the USA: the Westsail 32 from 1971 to 1985 and the Westsail 42 and 43 from 1975 to 1985, with lengths of 10 to 13 metres. They are cruising yachts of the seventies; the Westsail 32 is assigned to blue water cruising, that is to longer voyages at sea. You agree the cruising range when you take out the policy.
Anyone planning long distances should start with third-party liability. We offer it with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels. For trips across the border you receive the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages.
The full hull cover builds on the third-party liability, with an agreed value and compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). In the Premium tariff it applies with no age limit, so that hulls from the seventies remain covered. Collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts are included.

Series by Westsail, with value and cover
Westsail 32 is a sailing yacht from Westsail (the USA), built from 1971 to 1985, and today changes hands at between €35,000 and €90,000.
Westsail 42 / 43 is a sailing yacht from Westsail (the USA), built from 1975 to 1985, and today changes hands at between €75,000 and €190,000.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
