The Aprea family has been building boats in Sorrento since 1890. The yard made its name with the gozzo sorrentino, the traditional working boat of the area, and the family now runs it in its sixth or seventh generation. Boats are built in the tradition of Sorrento's shipwrights, and one family member chooses the timber for each hull. The Lancia Aprea 52 opened a new line, developed with Brunello Acampora's studio Victory Design. Its model is the Lancia Sorrentina, the launch that carried film stars between Sorrento and Capri in the 1950s. The 52 stands out for its varnished mahogany and teak over a hand-laid glassfibre hull, topped by a carbon fibre superstructure.
