Art of Kinetik came from Belgrade in Serbia. The entrepreneur Boris Ivanovic, previously active in telecommunications, founded the yard in 2007. The wooden Riva runabouts of the fifties and sixties were its point of reference, and Art of Kinetik presented itself as a maker of luxury wooden yachts. The Belgrade factory had four workshops: carpentry, metalwork, composites and upholstery. Each boat was built to order and to the owner's wishes, with a build time of twelve to 14 months. The boats stand out through their unusual names, Hedonist, Antagonist and Mazokist, through wood and teak on deck and through very generous open cockpits. The yard has since stopped working, so no new boats come from Belgrade.
Our model records list five designs, all filed as motor yachts. The smallest is the Mazokist at 9.75 metres, listed from 2009 to 2019. The Antagonist measures 11.4 metres and runs from 2013 to 2021. It was presented in June 2012 as an open weekend cruiser of 37 feet with room for up to eight people in the cockpit, a swim platform and an air-conditioned interior. Above it sits the Hedonist in three versions: Open and Hard-Top at 19 metres each, both from 2009 to 2019, and the Convertible at 20 metres from 2009 to 2015. None reaches the most recent build years, and the latest year in the records is 2021. Three of the five entries measure 19 metres or more, and the Mazokist is the only one under ten metres.
A wooden boat built to a custom specification needs attentive care. Varnish and teak want regular work, and any soft spot in the wood around fittings, hatches and the transom should be looked at early before water spreads. Because the yard no longer operates, owners rely on independent shipwrights for repairs, and drawings or build records that came with the boat are valuable. On a used Art of Kinetik it is worth checking how the boat was stored, how often the wood was refinished and whether engines and systems have their service history. A survey by someone experienced with wooden yachts is the sensible first step.
