Worth knowing
Bimare; cover, cost and conditions
Bimare catamarans such as the A-Cat AJ or the J 16 usually arrive on the trailer and go into the water down the slipway. The boat trailer is covered by the third-party liability at no extra premium from Basis-Plus, provided it is named in the application with its value, and cover applies expressly during launching, during craning and on the transport route, so that the journey to your cruising area is insured as well. You can add it to the hull cover for a premium.
The 14 documented model ranges were built between 2003 and 2019, among them open catamarans such as the J 16 and cabin catamarans such as the V1R, Zero and X16F. Because production lies in the past, these boats change hands on the used market today; we insure them regardless of year of build, place of purchase and previous owners.
A Bimare A-CAT is already sailing in our own portfolio. Anyone taking a catamaran to the starting line should know the framework: club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards, and races with ranking status are declared when you take out the policy, so that cover remains complete on the race course too.

For the Bimare V1R, Bimare X2 18HT,
Bimare Zero by Bimare and 8 more series the market value and the replacement cost often differ
widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Formula 20 and Bim-A-Cat by Bimare series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Bimare V1R, Bimare X2 18HT, Bimare Zero by Bimare and further series:
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part,
and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
For the Bimare J 16, Bimare A-Cat AJ, Bimare A-Cat XJ by Bimare and further series:
Open catamarans are beached and trailed, so most damage happens ashore and in transit,
not on the water.
