Bluegame builds motor yachts in Viareggio on the Tuscan coast. It was founded by Luca Santella, an architect and Olympic sailor, together with businessman Carlo Bonomi, and has been part of the Sanlorenzo group since 2018. Santella set out to combine the strengths of several boat types in one motor yacht; the spark was a boat he drew for a water skier, which caught attention at the Monaco Yacht Show. The number in each name is roughly the length in feet, and the newer models add the letters BGX.
Our model records hold 13 Bluegame entries, all motor yachts. Eight belong to the main range: the 40, 42, 47, 50, 54, 60, 62 and 72. Five fall to the BGX range with the 60, 63, 70 and 73, as the BGX 60 appears twice with different build spans. The Bluegame 47 is the earliest, from 2002, and seven entries run into the latest build years, including every BGX. Lengths range from the 12.41 metre Bluegame 40 to the 22.71 metre Bluegame 72.
These are fast cruising yachts for the Mediterranean summer: long days at anchor, swimming platforms in use, a tender ready aft. Their size calls for a proper marina berth and professional care for engines, stabilisers and electronics. Teak and upholstery last longer under canvas, and a winter ashore makes hull work and antifouling simpler.
