Botved Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Botved Boats is the Danish yard behind the Coronet name. Ole Botved founded it in 1951, first on Copenhagen harbour; he was a racing sailor himself and had taken bronze at the 1949 Snipe world championship. In 1956 he created the Coronet name, the little crown, and launched the 18 Hardtop Sedan to a design by Richard C. Cole. Coronets were sold across Scandinavia, the rest of Europe and Britain. In the late seventies the yard ran into difficulties, changed hands several times and traded as Coronet Boats A/S from 1980. Many models share the fixed roof cabin that the first Coronet already had.
Our model records list 36 models, 19 motor yachts, 15 motorboats and two sailing yachts, the Coronet Elvström 38 and the LA-Kreuzer. Build years run from 1961 to 1998, with the core of the range from the sixties and seventies. Lengths run from 4 to 13.3 metres, half of them between 7.3 and 10 metres. The 24 foot class alone appears in seven versions, from Cabin and Family to Fly Bridge, Midi and Weekender. Above it come the 26, the 27 Seafarer, the 31, 32 and 38 and the large Coronet 42 SS and 44.
Coronets are now classics of thirty to over sixty years. On a restored boat a current survey is the most reliable record of value, as the market for these models is thin, and many have been repowered, so the engine fitted today matters more than the one listed in the brochure.

For the Coronet Elvström 38, Coronet 26 SS,
Coronet 230 Silver Sun by Botved Boats and 33 more series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Coronet Elvström 38, LA-Kreuzer by Botved Boats series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For the Coronet 26 SS, Coronet 270 Family, Coronet 32 C by Botved Boats and further series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the Coronet 230 Silver Sun, Coronet 21, Coronet 22 by Botved Boats and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
