Conam; cover, cost and conditions
Conam is an Italian yard from Pozzuoli near Naples. According to the Italian yacht portal Mediaship it was founded in 1980 and built GRP motor yachts between 14 and 24 metres; the founder was the engineer Giuseppe Cimino. In 2002 the shipbuilding group Rodriguez Cantieri Navali took the company over. Two naming families make a Conam easy to place: the older models carry names such as Chorum, Chrono, Synthesi or Theorema, while the later ones are simply called Conam with a number and the suffix Sport or Wide Body, the latter meaning a superstructure that runs the full width of the hull.
Our model records list ten Conam yachts, all motor yachts. Six belong to the first generation, recorded up to 2005: the America 30, Synthesi 40, Theorema 45, Chorum 48, Chrono 52 and Chorum 54, built from 1993 or 1994. Four form the later generation: the Conam 60 Wide Body from 2000, the 58 Sport and 75 Wide Body from 2002 and the 46 Sport from 2003, with the 60 Wide Body listed until 2014 and the others until 2012. Lengths run from 10 metres (America 30) to 23.6 metres (Conam 75 Wide Body).
These are flybridge and sports yachts for the Mediterranean, kept on a marina berth and lifted out for the winter. Twenty years and more on the water call for close attention to engines, gelcoat and deck fittings, and parts for older models are best sourced through specialist yards. A Wide Body layout gives generous room below, which makes these yachts popular for long summer stays at anchor.
