Dalla Pietà Yacht; cover, cost and conditions

Dalla Pietà is a Venetian yard. Bepi Dalla Pietà founded it in 1959 on the island of Giudecca. In the sixties it built boats of four to seven metres in marine plywood and mahogany, with names such as Rio, Laguna and Tirreno that point straight at the home waters. In the seventies production moved to Marghera on the mainland, where there was room for boats up to 14 metres. His sons Gianni and Giorgio switched to glassfibre in the eighties and nineties. In 2009 the yard was sold to a Chinese aluminium group, and in 2022 Giorgio Dalla Pietà and partners from the Veneto bought the name back. Today the boats are built in Malcontenta near Venice.

Our model records list 34 designs: 28 motor yachts, five motorboats and one catamaran. Build years run from 1982 to 2022. The early DP 6 in Laguna, Sport and Week End versions measure 6.6 metres and are the smallest boats of the brand. Next came the DP 11 and DP 12 Fast Commuter of the eighties, then the star names Altair, Aquarius, Asterion and Al Nair from 8.5 to 16.9 metres. From 2000 the yachts carry codes: HT for hardtop as on the DP 58 HT and DP 80 HT, Fly for the flybridge models from the 56 Fly to the 82 Fly at 26.4 metres, and the 58 Open. Twenty three designs measure twelve metres or more.

A Dalla Pietà is usually a big, powerful motor yacht that spends its summers in the Adriatic and the wider Mediterranean. The older yachts from the eighties and nineties often carry their original engines with many hours, and a survey before purchase should include an engine check with oil analysis. Teak decks, stainless fittings and the hardtop seals are the other points that age. The Venetian roots show in the details: these were boats meant for the lagoon and the open Adriatic alike.
