Worth knowing
2 Bar; cover, cost and conditions
2 Bar is an Italian name in rigid inflatable boats. The company was set up by Pietro Barbieri and his daughter Francesca, who say they wanted boats that are recognisable at a glance and can be specified down to the last detail. That mostly means tubes and upholstery: the buyer picks colours, fabrics and accessories, so two boats of the same size can look entirely different. Every model shares a centre console layout with generous sunbathing areas. According to the builder the range runs to three sizes, numbered 57, 62 and 82, figures that match the length in decimetres. The company says it follows each build step by step, with details finished by hand.
Our model records list one design from the brand, the 2 Bar-57. It is classed as a RIB, a rigid hull carrying inflatable tubes, and appears with build years from 2018 to 2023, so it does not reach into the most recent model years. At 5.7 metres it is, according to the builder, the smallest of the three boats, with a beam of 2.4 metres. The larger 62 and 82 are not part of our records. The maker describes the 57 as an agile boat for sporty outings over short distances. With a 40 hp engine it can be driven without a licence, the builder says, while the plate allows up to 115 hp and ten people. The fuel tank holds 70 litres.
Looking after a RIB starts with the tubes. Sun and salt age the fabric, so a tarpaulin in the off season and a regular check of valves, seams and the bond between tube and hull pay off. Coloured tubes, a selling point of this brand, show fading earlier than grey ones. On a used 57, ask for the engine service record and look at the transom around the outboard brackets for cracks. Boats of this size usually live on a road trailer, so wheel bearings, lights and the winch strap deserve the same attention as the boat itself. A quick sea trial at full throttle tells a lot about the engine and the steering.

Series by 2 Bar, build years and cover
2 Bar-57 is an inflatable with engine from 2 Bar, built from 2018 to 2023.
For the 2 Bar-57 by 2 Bar series the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the 2 Bar-57 by 2 Bar series: On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage:
a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not.
The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
