Worth knowing
A.C.G.B.; cover, cost and conditions
Three sailing yacht ranges are recorded for A.C.G.B.: the ACGB 37 and the ACGB 41 from the years 1976 to 1983 as well as the Endurance 44, which was built from 1975 onwards. With us, the premium of a sailing yacht is based on the sail area and not on an engine output, plus on value, year of construction and cruising range.
All three ranges ran out by 1983, so the boats have been under way for decades. For full hull cover we therefore agree an agreed value, and in the event of a claim we pay with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). In the Premium tariff this applies with no age limit, so that even a boat built in the nineteen seventies remains insured at the agreed value.
The basis of every contract is third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards; races with ranking status you declare when taking out the policy. In this way even the racing use of an older yacht stays within the cover.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does it matter that the ACGB 41 has not been built since 1983?
No. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. For hull cover, what counts is the agreed value and not the age of the production series.
How is the sail area taken into account in the premium?
On sailing yachts the sail area takes the place of engine output. Together with the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range it produces the premium. The brand never enters into it.

Series by A.C.G.B., build years and cover
ACGB 37 is a sailing yacht from A.C.G.B., built from 1976 to 1983.
ACGB 41 is a sailing yacht from A.C.G.B., built from 1976 to 1983.
Endurance 44 is a sailing yacht from A.C.G.B., built from 1975 to 1983.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
