AD Boats (Maestral 230) is the yard behind Salona sailing yachts, based in Solin, right next to Split in central Dalmatia. The Salona models are conceived as fast cruisers that combine racing pace with comfort for longer passages, and the yard also builds inflatable boats under the Maestral name. The number in a Salona name roughly gives the length in feet, so a Salona 38 is 11.5 metres long, and models with an S before the number form a separate line next to the classic range.

Our model records list 26 AD Boats (Maestral 230) models: 19 sailing yachts, five inflatables and two RIBs. Recorded build years run from 2000 to 2027, and four models continue into current production: the Salona 39, S 33, S 35 and S 46. Lengths range from 2.3 to 20.4 metres, half of them between 7 and 13.5 metres. The classic line starts with the Salona 34 at 10 metres and runs through the 37, 38, 40 and 42 to the Salona 45 at 13.6 metres, topped by the Salona 60 at 19.2 and the Salona 67 at 20.4 metres. The S line goes from the S 33 at 10 metres to the S 46 at 14.1 metres.

Many Salonas are raced at club level and cruised along the Adriatic in summer, which shows in their condition. Value depends on the rig and sails, keel and rudder, engine hours and electronics, and on whether a boat spent years in charter. An early Salona 40 with new sails and a documented history can hold its own against a later model with a hard charter life.
