Adams Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Adams Yachts takes its name from the designer Joe Adams. In Australian sailing he is remembered above all for Helsal, first boat to finish the 1973 Sydney Hobart race, and his drawing board also produced the Adams 8, 10.6, 13 and 21. He died in the Philippines in 2012, aged 81. The Adams 10 is a 33 ft racer-cruiser that also races as a one-design class. She is easy to recognise by her fin keel with lead ballast, the rudder hung on the transom and a light displacement for her length, which gives her brisk pace on the racecourse while keeping a proper cabin for a weekend away.
Our model records list one design under this name: the Adams 10, a sailing yacht of 10.13 metres. Build years run from 1974 to 1994, two decades for a single set of lines. None of it reaches into recent build years, so the youngest boats are around thirty years old and the oldest are past fifty. Other members of the Adams family, such as the 10.6 or the 13, are not filed under this brand in our data. A long run of identical hulls has its practical side: tuning notes, sail sizes and lessons learned carry over from one boat to the next.
Decades of hard racing leave their marks. On an Adams 10 the joint between keel and hull and the keel bolts deserve a careful look, as does the transom-hung rudder with its pintles and gudgeons. Chainplates and the deck around them take high loads on a boat designed to be pushed. The sails tell their own story: a racing boat may come with a fresh regatta wardrobe and an older set for cruising. A boat that has spent seasons on one-design courses can have newer rigging than her age suggests, while a quiet cruiser may still carry original fittings that are due for replacement.

Series by Adams Yachts, build years and cover
Adams 10 is a sailing yacht from Adams Yachts, built from 1974 to 1994.
For the Adams 10 by Adams Yachts series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Adams 10 by Adams Yachts series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
