Worth knowing
Amerglass; cover, cost and conditions
The programme comprises nine model ranges created between 1966 and 1986, among them motor yachts such as the Amer-Runner 30 and, with the Searunner 30, a sailing yacht as well. All of these boats are second-hand boats today. Cover is therefore arranged with an agreed value, which applies in the event of a claim without any dispute about the current market value.
We have no information on the country, size or focus of the yard, and we write nothing about it. That is irrelevant for the premium, because the premium follows from the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the engine output or sail area and the cruising range. The brand itself never enters into the premium.
Full hull cover pays with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) and covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. In the Premium tariff the age limit for compensation also no longer applies.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What does an agreed value mean for a boat from the nineteen-seventies?
The value is fixed when the policy is taken out and applies in the event of a total loss. You do not have to prove a current market value when you claim, and no deduction for depreciation (new for old) is made.
Can a motor yacht and a sailing yacht from the same yard be insured with the same company?
Yes, both types of boat run through the same tariff levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. For the sailing yacht the sail area counts, for the motor yacht the engine output.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
