Antila Jacht; cover, cost and conditions
Antila Yachts is a Polish yard based in Radom and founded by Cezary Duchnik. It builds sailing yachts and keeps its range short, with only a handful of models at any one time, from compact cabin boats of around seven metres to yachts beyond ten. The Antila 28.2 was drawn by Adam and Michał Orych and has an integrated centreboard that can be raised to reduce draught in shallow water. She sleeps up to eight people in six fixed and two extra berths, a lot of sleeping space for a boat under nine metres, and that mix of cabin yacht, centreboard and tight layout is the clearest way to recognise the newer Antila designs.
Our model records list three designs, all sailing yachts. The Antila 24 at 7.5 metres is the smallest and also the longest lived, appearing from 2003 to 2022, almost two decades without a break. The Antila 28.2 at 8.2 metres and the Antila 34 at 10.5 metres both start in 2020 and run to build year 2024. None of the three is carried into the most recent build years in our records. Three metres separate the smallest from the largest boat, so the range spans the step from a weekend cabin boat to a yacht for longer cruises.
Centreboard boats ask for a few specific checks. On a used Antila 28.2, lower and raise the board fully and listen for grinding; look at the pivot, the lifting line or winch and the trunk for wear or cracks. The board lets owners explore shallow bays and lake shores, and boats sailed that way touch bottom now and then, so the underside of the hull and the front edge of the board deserve a careful look. An Antila 24 from the early 2000s has seen many seasons, and its sails, running rigging and engine will tell more about past care than the build year does.
