Argo Yacht boats are a Polish design: laminated motorboats conceived as family houseboats and excursion boats for sheltered and inland waters, with a shallow draught. The Weekend 820 takes up to seven people and offers standing headroom along the whole interior, a saloon joined to the galley and a separate heads. She is steered from a raised helm in a wheelhouse whose windows can be closed in with removable canvas sides, and hydraulic steering with an electric bow thruster helps in tight berths. The smaller Relaks 720 is laid out for weekends with six aboard, with a gas hob, fridge and sink in the galley. In Poland the boats are a familiar sight in charter fleets.
Our model records list three designs: two motor yachts and one motorboat. The Relaks B-720 at 7.2 metres is the smallest and is listed from 2009, as is the Weekend 820 at 8.2 metres. The Adventure 820 at 8.1 metres joined in 2016. All three run into the most recent build years, so the brand has kept a small and steady range for more than fifteen years. The lengths sit close together, with barely a metre between the smallest and the largest, and the two 820 models are almost the same size.
Boats built for inland cruising lead a particular life. Locks, narrow canals and shared moorings bring frequent fender contact, so the rubbing strakes and the gelcoat along the sides show how a boat has been handled. On a used Weekend or Relaks, look at the hydraulic steering for leaks, test the bow thruster and check its tunnel, and run the engine under load. Canvas sides, zips and seals age with sun and rain. Houseboats that come out of charter service have had many different skippers, and a service log tells a buyer how carefully that time was managed.
