Worth knowing
Argo-Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
A single model range is documented, the sailing yacht Clipper 420 with years of construction between 1988 and 1995. We accept boats from this period without further ado, because we insure independently of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. In the Premium tariff the age limit is also waived in full hull cover.
With a hull that has been in the water since the late eighties, the agreed compensation is what counts. The agreed value sets the amount in advance, and payment is made with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). This means you know even before a claim what you can rely on in the event of a total loss.
The premium arises from type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range. Whether you are out on inland waters or on the coast makes a difference here, the name of the yard does not. Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards, and races with scoring status you report when taking out the policy.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can a yacht from 1988 still be insured with full hull cover?
Yes. We insure independently of the year of construction. In the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit, and compensation is paid according to the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
What should be considered when buying a used boat?
After the purchase of a used boat, disputes with the seller or a shipyard can arise. For this we offer legal expenses cover for water sports in addition to the boat insurance.

Series by Argo-Yachts, build years and cover
Clipper 420 is a sailing yacht from Argo-Yachts, built from 1988 to 1995.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
