Worth knowing
Blakes Marine; cover, cost and conditions
Three model ranges are on file: the sailing boats Kelpie 15 from 1972 to 1980 and Poacher from 1977 to 1984 and the sailing yacht Manta 19 from 1974 to 1981. Production ended long ago, and a purchase today is a used one. NAMMERT insures regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.
At the beginning there is third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Limited hull cover and full hull cover build on that. What counts for the premium are the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range, not the name of the yard.
An agreed value records the agreed worth, and indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). Small production runs and home-built boats can be insured as well. The boat trailer is included at no extra premium, and cover applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and on the transport route.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How high is the limit of indemnity under third-party liability?
Depending on the level, between 10 and 50 million euros. Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium differ in amount and scope, for example in the inclusion of club races from Basis-Plus.
Can a Manta 19 from 1975 still be insured?
Yes. NAMMERT insures regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. The value is agreed by means of an agreed value, and indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).

Series by Blakes Marine, build years and cover
Poacher is a sailing boat from Blakes Marine, built from 1977 to 1984.
Manta 19 is a sailing yacht from Blakes Marine, built from 1974 to 1981.
Kelpie 15 is a sailing boat from Blakes Marine, built from 1972 to 1980.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
