Worth knowing
Briand; cover, cost and conditions
The basis of every contract is third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, selectable in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels. This also applies to the sailing yacht Club 86, whose production ran between 1977 and 1985 and which today is only available second-hand.
For older sailing yachts we arrange an agreed value under full hull cover. The indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Build year, place of purchase and previous owners do not stand in the way, we insure irrespective of these and also after several changes of owner.
For sailing boats the premium results from sail area, type of boat, value, build year and cruising range, never from the brand. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards, and races with scoring status you declare when taking out the policy. The cover also applies in winter storage, during craning and during launching.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
From which tariff are races included?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. Races with scoring status you register when taking out the policy, so that they are expressly stated in the contract and are undisputed in the event of a claim.
Does it matter that production lies far in the past?
No. We insure irrespective of build year, place of purchase and previous owners. The agreed value fixes the value in the contract, and the indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation.

Series by Briand, build years and cover
Club 86 is a sailing yacht from Briand, built from 1977 to 1985.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
