On a RIB of this age the tube is the first thing to check. Hypalon and PVC tubes both age in sunlight; look for porous patches, lifting seams and valves that no longer hold pressure overnight. Where the tube meets the hull, the bonding strip should be firm along its whole length. Inside the hull, check the deck for soft spots and the transom for cracks around the engine bolts, since a heavy outboard on an older transom does a lot of work. The steering console, fuel tank and wiring are often original on boats from the late nineties and may need renewing.
