Worth knowing
Maresol; cover, cost and conditions
Not every yard builds in large series, and it does not have to: small series and home builds can be insured with us. For a manufacturer of inflatable boats and RIBs such as Maresol this means that every boat is accepted in the normal way; the premium is based on the type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range, never on the brand.
A RIB 395 Cruiser is already insured in our own portfolio. With RIBs in particular much depends on the propulsion: full hull cover covers theft of parts including the outboard, plus collision, grounding and vandalism. If you declare the engine with its value, it is covered in a claim with no deduction for depreciation.
Inflatable boats are mobile and often travel on a trailer. The boat trailer is covered by the third-party liability at no extra premium from Basis-Plus, provided it is named in the application with its value, and the cover also applies during launching, during craning, in transit and in winter storage; there is no time window and no night clause in the hull cover.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is the outboard of a Maresol RIB insured against theft?
Yes, for Maresol too: full hull cover includes theft of parts including the outboard.
Theft of the entire boat is already covered by the limited hull cover.
Maresol does not build large series. Is that a disadvantage when taking out a policy?
No, not for Maresol either: small series can expressly be insured.
Classification is based on the type of boat, value, year of construction,
engine power and cruising range; the name of the yard plays no part.
