Worth knowing
Mission Craft; cover, cost and conditions
Mission Craft builds small rigid-hull and folding boats that mostly serve as tenders alongside a yacht. The value is modest, the benefit great, and precisely for that reason the tender is often forgotten: it runs along as an accessory instead of appearing in the contract with a value of its own.
With us the tender is included in the boat insurance up to an agreed sum. Anyone who is out on the water with it regularly should insure it in its own right, and then the cover also applies independently of the mother yacht, for example in winter storage or during transport.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Do I have to insure my tender separately?
For Mission Craft: Up to the agreed sum, no.
Where it is used intensively in its own right, a separate contract makes sense.
Is the tender's engine included?
Yes, for Mission Craft too: if it is stated in the contract with its power output and serial
number.

Nautical information What counts before you cast off, papers, equipment, waters
Licence
Required inland and at sea from 15 hp (11.03 kW); below that, none.
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; carry the boat certificate on maritime shipping routes.
Waters
Inland lakes, the coast and the Wadden Sea, mind the tide tables and the fairway.
Equipment
Lifejackets, paddles, pump, repair kit, anchor gear and signalling equipment.
Cruising range
RIBs close to the coast; check air pressure before every trip and after temperature swings.
Weather
From Beaufort 4 the ride turns hard, and offshore wind sharply raises the risk of drifting.
General guidance, not a complete account;
what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and the manual of your Mission Craft.
Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.

parts are available and repair costs are predictable.
Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
As the Gecko 290 / Grizzly 290 by Mission Craft series is still in production,
parts are available and repairs are predictable.
Still, set the value at replacement cost, including sails, rigging or gear you bought later.
For the Drake 270 / 360, FR-360 / Drake 420,
Mission Craft Master 390 / 430 by Mission Craft and further series:
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered,
porous fabric after years in the sun is not.
The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
For the Gecko 290 / Grizzly 290 by Mission Craft series: Even without an engine the rule holds:
a tear from impact or vandalism is covered, UV ageing is wear.
