Worth knowing
Mercury (Mercury Marine); cover, cost and conditions
Ocean Runner, Air Deck, Heavy Duty and XS Sport are the names of Mercury's inflatable and RIB model ranges, with sizes from 2.4 to 4.7 metres and build years from 2000 to the present day. Boats of this size usually reach the water on a trailer, and at NAMMERT the trailer is covered by the third-party liability at no extra premium from Basis-Plus, provided it is named in the application with its value. You can add it to the hull cover for a premium.
Quite a lot happens during launching and transport that has nothing to do with being under way. The cover also applies in winter storage, during craning and launching and on the transport route.
In our records Mercury is listed as a sister brand of Quicksilver within the same group. That changes nothing about the premium, because it is based on the type of boat, the value, the build year, the engine output and the cruising range, never on the brand. Theft of parts including the outboard belongs to full hull cover, as do collision and vandalism.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does including the trailer cost extra?
For Mercury: The boat trailer is covered by the third-party liability at no extra premium from
Basis-Plus, provided it is named in the application with its value,
and the transport route to the water is also included in the cover.
You can add it to the hull cover for a premium.
Does belonging to a group affect the price?
No, not for Mercury either: The premium is based on the type of boat, the value, the build year,
the engine output and the cruising range.
The brand or the group behind it does not enter into the calculation.

Nautical information What counts before you cast off, papers, equipment, waters
Licence
Required inland and at sea from 15 hp (11.03 kW); below that, none.
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; carry the boat certificate on maritime shipping routes.
Waters
Inland lakes, the coast and the Wadden Sea, mind the tide tables and the fairway.
Equipment
Lifejackets, paddles, pump, repair kit, anchor gear and signalling equipment.
Cruising range
RIBs close to the coast; check air pressure before every trip and after temperature swings.
Weather
From Beaufort 4 the ride turns hard, and offshore wind sharply raises the risk of drifting.
General guidance, not a complete account;
what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and the manual of your Mercury.
Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
