Cantiere Navale Arno is the yard behind the Leopard motor yachts, and it sits near Pisa in Tuscany. Broker accounts trace it back to the Giuseppe Picchiotti and Sons yard of 1907, while the name Cantiere Navale Arno dates from 1935. After the Second World War the Picchiotti family rebuilt the destroyed yard. The boats were first built in timber before the move to composite construction in the 1980s. A Leopard is easy to place: a large, fast motor yacht, and the later models carry their length in metres in the name, such as the Leopard 27m or 34m.

Yachts of 23 to 46 metres live on a marina berth or a mooring and come ashore by crane for the winter. Their pace comes from large engines, so regular work on engines, shafts and stern gear matters as much as the hull itself. Hulls from the 1970s deserve a careful survey before each season, and a berth sheltered from the swell keeps the topsides in shape.
