Worth knowing
Carnave; cover, cost and conditions
For Carnave the motor yacht Porto 48 with years of construction from 1972 to 1979 is documented. Yachts of this kind spend part of the year ashore, and it is precisely there that our cover extends further: in winter storage, during craning, during launching and on the transport route, without you having to take out an additional policy for it.
Limited hull cover covers fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage. Full hull cover is added with collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard, in each case with an agreed value and compensation with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
Because production lies decades in the past, the question of age arises with every contract. In the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit, and we insure irrespective of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. The premium is based on type of boat, value, year of construction, engine output and cruising range.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is the boat also insured ashore?
Yes. The cover applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and on the transport route. Damage in winter storage is already included in limited hull cover, there is no time window in hull insurance cover.
Does a year of construction from the 1970s rule out full hull cover?
No. In the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit, and we insure irrespective of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. Compensation follows the agreed value.

Series by Carnave, build years and cover
Porto 48 is a motor yacht from Carnave, built from 1972 to 1979.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
