Edorado is a Dutch company from Dordrecht, founded in 2015 by Giel Groothuis and Godert van Hardenbroek with one aim: an electric powerboat that flies on hydrofoils. The result is the Edorado 8 S. It is built in carbon fibre and recognisable by its retractable foils, a T-foil at the bow that sets ride height and a wing of roughly two metres at the stern. An automatic control system adjusts the foils constantly. For collisions the company developed its own safety system that lets the forward foil swing aft. The look of the boat was shaped with the involvement of the designer Ivo van Hulten.

Two Torqeedo electric motors of 55 kilowatts each drive pods that turn through 360 degrees, and the battery holds 80 kilowatt hours according to the boating press. With the foils down the boat draws 1.25 metres; with them retracted, only 0.45 metres, enough for shallow berths and for a trailer. The beam is 2.55 metres.

Because the foils retract, the boat can use ordinary berths, though owners in tidal or weedy waters tend to keep them up whenever they are moored.
