Frisian Motor Boats BV is based in Noardburgum, in the Dutch province of Friesland, and builds the motor yachts sold under the Super Lauwersmeer name. The story goes back to 1969, when the first yard opened in the Frisian village of Westergeast. In 1998 Frisian Motor Boats, run by the brothers Bastiaan and Louis Jousma, took the business over and moved it to its present site. The yard builds motor yachts of roughly ten to 17 metres, each fitted out to the owner's wishes, and the whole job, from laying the keel to joinery and equipment, happens under one roof without the boat ever leaving the premises. The current range consists of the Discovery in AC and OC form and the SLX54.

Boats of this size and layout are typically used for long days on inland waters and along the coast. Because every yacht was fitted out to order, two hulls of the same type can differ a good deal in engines, electronics and joinery, so the build file and the original list of extras are well worth asking for. The aft cabin versions suit couples who want a separate owner's suite at the stern, while the open cockpit layouts keep everyone close to the helm and make locks and moorings easier to handle for a small crew.
