Worth knowing
Gariplast; cover, cost and conditions
Gariplast is listed in our records as a builder of motorboats and motor yachts. Instead of a numbered family the range uses names: Top, Heron, Blitz, Action, Raider, Maren, Shaitang and Free Way, plus the Gozzoluna without a number. The figure after the name is roughly the length in feet, so the Top 19 is 6 metres long and the Maren 34 10.6 metres, which makes most boats easy to place. We hold no confirmed details on where the yard was based, when it began or who drew its boats, so this page describes the range only.
Our model records list nine Gariplast designs, four motorboats and five motor yachts, all recorded from 1990 to 1997. The motorboats are the Top 19 at 6 metres, the Heron 21 at 6.4, the Blitz 23 at 7.05 and the Gozzoluna at 7.3 metres. The yachts start with the Action 25 at 7.7 metres, followed by the Raider 29, the Maren 34 and the Shaitang 37, and end with the 13.7 metre Free Way 43. Six of the nine stay below 9 metres.
The small boats up to about 7 metres are day boats that travel on a trailer and launch from a ramp. From the Maren 34 upwards they turn into berth boats with bigger engines, used for coastal trips and weekends aboard. Thirty year old gelcoat, engine mounts and fuel lines deserve attention, and a winter in a shed keeps the interior dry.

That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Action 25, Free Way 43, Maren 34 by Gariplast and further series:
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value.
Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For the Blitz 23, Gozzoluna, Heron 21 by Gariplast and further series:
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
