Hunt Yachts; cover, cost and conditions

Hunt Yachts builds semi custom motor boats and motor yachts in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, on the Melville Basin. Every Hunt starts from the deep V hull developed by designer C. Raymond Hunt, and the lines still come from the design office C. Raymond Hunt Associates. The Harrier, Surfhunter and Center Console models are built in Rhode Island, while the larger Ocean Series yachts are built in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The model number roughly gives the length in feet, and CC marks a centre console.

Our model records list 29 Hunt models: 22 motor yachts, six motor boats and one rigid inflatable, the Hunt HBI 30. Recorded build years run from 2004 to the present, with eight models continuing into current production. Lengths range from 7.6 to 27.1 metres, half of them between 8.9 and 21.2 metres. The Harrier line covers the Harrier 25 to 36 at 7.6 to 11.2 metres plus the newer Hunt Harrier 26 and 32. The Surfhunter runs from the 25 at 7.6 metres to the 33 at 10.1 metres, and the Hunt 26 CC and 32 CC sit at 8.1 to 9.8 metres. Above them come the yachts from the Hunt 44 at 13.5 metres through the Hunt 55, 63 and 76 Flybridge to the Hunt 84 at 27.1 metres.

The smaller Hunts are fast day boats for New England style coastal runs, often kept on a mooring or trailer. On the larger yachts, engines, generators and navigation electronics make up much of the value, and the semi custom build means two boats of the same model can differ widely in layout and finish.
