Hunton; cover, cost and conditions
Hunton is an English builder of fast motor yachts, founded in 1979 by Jeff Hunton after a successful career in offshore powerboat racing. The first model, the 23 Gazelle, won a class title in the British Offshore Powerboat Championship in 1980. That background still shows: deep V hulls for rough water, long low lines and plenty of power. The family tree is easy to follow, from Jeff Hunton's race boat to a leisure version, then the Thoroughbred 36 and in 2004 the XRS 37. In 2010 a group of new owners took over and gave the company an international footing. The numbers in the H and XRS names are close to the length in feet.
Our model records list 15 Hunton designs: twelve motor yachts and three RIBs. Build years start in 1987 with the Gazelle 27, and six lines run to the latest model years. Four models form the current H series, three the XRS series and three the Gazelle line, joined by the Thoroughbred 36, the RS 43 and the 9.04 Rib, Tender 830 and Tender 1005 RIBs. Lengths range from the 8.23 metre Gazelle 27 to the 16.7 metre H 55.
A Hunton is a boat for the Solent and the Channel, built to keep its pace when the sea picks up. The yachts live in marina berths, and twin high output engines want regular service and careful winter layup. The tender RIBs often travel with a larger yacht. On the older Gazelle and Thoroughbred models, engine hours and the state of the drive train tell you most of what you need to know.

Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.

porous fabric after years in the sun is not.
