Worth knowing
Huseklepp; cover, cost and conditions
Huseklepp AS is a Norwegian yard whose name is tied to one boat: the Riviera 925, a motor cruiser built over many years in several versions. The hull is glassfibre reinforced polyester; the flybridge version measures about 34 feet with an 11 foot beam and weighs around 6.5 tonnes, with diesel power. Below deck there are two cabins with four berths. When looking at one, the full name matters: this Norwegian Riviera has nothing to do with builders in other countries that use the same word.
Our model records list four designs, all motor yachts and all versions of the Riviera 925. The basic boat is recorded from 1984 to 2009, the longest run of the four. The Nordboot Riviera 925 follows from 1988 to 1997, the Riviera 925 Fly from 1989 to 2010 and the Riviera 925 HT, the hardtop version, from 1994 to 2003. The basic boat and the Nordboot measure 9.2 metres, the Fly and the HT 10.35 metres. None of the versions reaches into recent production, and together they span more than a quarter of a century.
A Riviera 925 is a boat for Scandinavian waters: sheltered skerries, long summer evenings and short, steep seas when the wind picks up. On a used example the diesel installation deserves a close look, with engine hours, exhaust elbows and raw water pumps high on the list. Teak decks, windscreen seals and the flybridge structure age with the weather. Many boats have been upgraded with modern electronics, bow and stern thrusters or heating, so a clear record of what was fitted and when helps a buyer judge the boat.
