Mainship Motor Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Mainship is an American motor yacht brand with roots in the Luhrs boatbuilding family. It became known above all for trawlers: from the mid nineties Mainship built economical displacement and semi displacement boats with a large saloon, flybridge and wide side decks, meant for unhurried cruising along the coast and on inland waterways. In 2012 David Marlow, founder of Marlow Yachts, took over the brand, combined Mainship designs with his own yard's building methods, and the design team in Alachua, Florida, produced the Marlow Pilot 31, 32, 34 and 37.
Our model records list 35 models, all recorded as motor yachts. Build years begin in 1985 and run into current production. Lengths run from 9.1 to 14.6 metres, half of them between 10.8 and 12.5 metres. The records show three phases: until the late nineties Sedan Bridge, Express and Open models from 31 to 47 feet, then the 350, 390 and 430 Trawlers, the 34, 35 and 45 Trawler and the Pilot range, and from 2013 the Marlow Pilot models. Mainship 32 and Marlow Pilot 32 share the same 11.15 metre length, as do the two 37s at 12.78 metres.
Mainship trawlers are yachts for long, slow passages and are often lived aboard for weeks at a time. For the older models from the eighties and nineties a current survey is the most reliable record of value.
