Nidelv Båt; cover, cost and conditions
In Norway, Nidelv built GRP cabin boats of between 8 and 10 metres, solid displacement and semi-displacement craft with an enclosed wheelhouse, widely used in Norway as family and touring boats. The boats are designed for cold water and long service and are frequently used all year round.
In year-round operation, frost and the onboard heater are the two points. We cover frost damage where the boat has been properly winterised; in ongoing use that means antifreeze in the cooling circuit and an empty fresh water system between trips. The onboard heater is covered as permanently installed equipment, but an improvised installation with the exhaust led through the hull is the most common cause of fire in winter operation.
