Worth knowing
Rethana; cover, cost and conditions
The Rethana sailing yachts were built over several decades: the Rethana 27 from 1968, the 24 and 25 from the end of the 1970s, built until 2007; the Piccolo added a motorboat to the range. For older boats like these the agreed value is what counts: the agreed figure applies, and in the event of a total loss with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
With a Rethana 25 and a Rethana 27, two boats of this make are already insured in our own portfolio. The year of construction is no obstacle: we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit. Classification is based on value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range.
Since production lies in the past, Rethana boats change owner second hand today. Limited hull cover includes fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage; full hull cover adds collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts. In this way a well-kept older boat remains fully insured.

Series by Rethana, build years and cover
Rethana 24 is a sailing yacht from Rethana, built from 1977 to 2007.
Also a sailing yacht, built from 1978 to 2007.
Also a sailing yacht, built from 1968 to 1992.
Piccolo is a motorboat from Rethana, built from 1970 to 1982.
For the Rethana 24 and Rethana 25 by Rethana series the market value and the replacement cost
often differ widely.
An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For the Rethana 27 and Piccolo by Rethana series there is no list price left.
That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it,
and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
For the Rethana 24, Rethana 25, Rethana 27 by Rethana series:
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts:
a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat,
and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For the Piccolo by Rethana series: On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part.
Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
