Calculate the antifreeze, winterise the cooling circuit
For protection down to minus twenty-five degrees, you should reckon on a mix of roughly forty per cent concentrate.

The cooling circuit, the heads, the water tank and the pipework must be drained or protected before the first frost. A burst heat exchanger costs more than ten winters of antifreeze, and it often does not split open until the spring, when nobody is thinking about winter any more.
Frost damage is not covered in our products: frost counts as normal exposure to the weather and therefore as a matter of maintenance, not as a loss event.
What is covered is consequential damage arising from an insured event. If a storm tears open the canvas cover and water gets in and then freezes, the cause is the storm. Anyone who forgets the winter check, by contrast, is left with a maintenance problem.
Frequently asked questions
Is frost damage insured?
Not in our products. Frost counts as normal exposure to the weather and therefore as a maintenance matter.
What about consequential damage?
If an insured event set off the frost damage, for instance a storm that tears the cover open, then it is the cause that counts.
