The displacement quoted in the brochure is the light displacement. Full tanks, equipment, chain and stores all come on top of that, and on a ten-tonne yacht that is easily two to three tonnes. The crane operator needs the realistic figure, not the one from the data sheet.
Craning and slipping are the riskiest moments of the boating year. A sling that has slipped, a badly placed support, a crane at its limit: the damage ranges from a crushed hull side to a total loss.
At NAMMERT, normal hull cover applies during craning, slipping, hauling out and launching, including under the seasonal policy. If the marina is at fault for the damage, it is liable, and from Basis-Plus onwards there is cover for uncollectable claims should it be unable to pay.
