How the place works
From October to December tropical cyclones move in from the Bay of Bengal, and the Nicobars lie exposed. The Andaman Sea itself is calm and shallow in winter, with limestone rocks standing steep out of the water whose shoals are not always charted.
What breaks there
Outside the cyclone season it is rock contact while anchoring among the karst islands. In season it is the cyclone, and there are hardly any refuge harbours for yachts in this region.
