How the place works
Between the Delta Works up to four knots of current run through narrow openings, and with wind against current a steep cross sea stands there over a short distance. The storm surge barriers close when needed, and the current pattern then changes fundamentally within one tide.
What breaks there
Cases arise in the openings and when berthing in the current: boats are set sideways and hit piles or lock walls. Add groundings on the flats, which dry quickly on the ebb.
